Many of u Blizzards fans might not be aware of this but the blizzards were meant to play a small gig in the small village of roundstone, galway, ireland on the 12th of august this summer as part of the annual summerfest... now on getting the brochure i immediatly flicked to the "beat on the street" night, the highlight for everyone of the summerfest, we were all excited by the hot lineup, which along with the timbertramps and the kegs (clifdens finest cover band) were the blizzards "fresh from oxygen". we were all excited and stood outside (in the lashing rain) for a full 2 hours listening to the other acts and mainly waiting until the blizzards showed up.....
another hour later it was clear they werent going to show..... does anyone have any clue why?? :(
We were all there from 4 pm that day and also stood around in the rain for several hours. When the other band had finished playing - all the gear was completely soaked thru and the technical people on site made the decision that it would have been very dangerous to go on and play.
If for one minute you thought that We would be "too big for our boots" you've got the wrong band. It's the first time we ever had to pull a gig and the decision was'nt taken lightly considering we had all driven over four hours to get there.
Sorry about that then!! the crowd didn't get any info about the cancellation and a rumour was goin round that you guys just didn't turn up! im glad that wasnt the case :) hopefully we'll see you there next yr!
